Care for your cashmere

A cashmere goat could live well everywhere, but the selection is given by a very important condition: the ability to withstand the cold up to 30° below zero. Being able to resist such temperatures takes af fleece very thick and strong, but above all it needs a very warm undercoat. The soft and fluffy undercoat is the most precious part of the hair of the cashmere goat; it is called Tiflit or Duvet. Each adult goat throughout the year produces about 200 grams of Cashmere. The real Cashmere is very expensive because the production amount is very low; the coats are not shorn, but combed only at the season that their hair regrows. That small part which comes from combing the undercoat is separated from the thicker hair to get a raw material that is so soft and warm, and that is called Cashmere.

The real Cashmere was born in the East, but the exaltation of the fiber depends greatly on the work of spinning; the art of Italian spinning mills can transform a noble fiber in yarn of high and constant quality. In order to to preserve it you should just follow a few simple rules: It is living fiber and should not be worn for too many days in a row. Every once you should let it rest. Never dry it clean. It can be washed with water at room temperature and rinsed in very constant way to avoid that the garment modified the appearance and its sense of touch. The Cashmere likes neutral soaps and requires no softeners; indeed, washing it makes it softer.

Dry it horizontally and do not keep it near heat sources or under the sunlight. Before wearing the Cashmere it should be combed with a soft brush in order to reduce the peeling effect (when the fibers on the surface that escape from the wire get rubbed, they form tiny balls. Sometimes it is due to the thickening of the small dust particles around the fiber). We often tend to have misconception of the peeling, taking is as a defect though this a common and normal feature in the Cashmere/fine wool.

In the embodiment of a knitted pure Cashmere there will always be compromises: in fact it is always a dilemma to choose between the softness of the fibers and making them tight to prevent them from being released and to bypass the peeling effect. More the fibers is twisted and tightened, less soft and swollen, soft and light, obtained with a few turns of twist, will lead to the creation of a delicate mesh, which requires special attention. We prefer to make a twisting medium/high to favor the durability and stability of the garments, so our jersey are soft and they become even softer wash after wash and any slight peeling will disappear completely after two og three washes. To minimize the peeling do not wear a sweater more than two-three days in a row, wash is as often as possible, the Cashmere loves water. The goats live in a difficult condition and often outdoors in the rain. Thus your Cashmere sweater, will be renewed each time you wash it.
